But when the children join us and their young energy beckons....Seaworld cannot be far off. After all, it is only two hours south and we'd never been before. So we went, duffles and sunscreen in tow, and headed for Cal and Maddie's (this year's) dream vacation.
How lovely...we played (Mitch and I that is). What we found was nothing short of spectacular - we sat in the "splash zone" at every show and ate dinner next to the shark aquarium. We ran from show to show and retrieved oyster shells promising (and delivering) one of a kind pearls. We enjoyed all of the wonderful offerings there, and enjoyed even more the wonderful looks on the children's faces. Callie flashed his elusive smile and Maddie allowed hand holding on occasion (this thrilled me no end). So this is what it is like to have adolescents (and I had just gotten to feel confident about knowing our "youngsters").
If you haven't been to Seaworld, go sometime -- the sea creatures are magical indeed, but even more so is the getting away, and the sheer fun of it all.
